Baby Carriers and Wraps

Some babies never want to be put down. This is normal. Those tiny beings have been curled up tightly in a dark, soothing spot for months. That’s their happy place. It makes perfect sense that newborns want to be held tight where they can hear a heartbeat. It’s a wonderful feeling to have a newborn snuggled on you . but after a few hours you want to do things, like make yourself a sandwich or actually move off the couch. This is where a baby carrier or wrap can be very helpful.

A baby wrap is a piece of material that you twist and tie around yourself to hold the baby to you. They range in price and material from very inexpensive to the cost of a premium stroller. Wrapping a baby as it is referred to is a learned skill, and the more expensive baby wraps allow for a dozen or more different wrapping styles to hold the baby on your front, back, or hip. Wraps made of inexpensive jersey material work well in the early months when a baby is less than fifteen pounds. The more expensive linen and woven wraps can be used from newborn to even toddler age. There’s a wrap option for every budget and skill level. The most commonly available wrap to purchase in stores is a Moby Wrap, and it’s made of jersey material.
